A little intro to my new city...
So the first thing you’ll often hear about Stockholm is that it’s a city made up of little islands, all linked by bridges and surrounded by water. When I first heard this fact I thought the following…
1) Sounds beautiful.
2) Sounds big.
Number one is totally correct my friend, the islands are lined with boats and at night they twinkle with strings of fairy lights that reflect in the water and it’s magical. (Being surrounded by water also means that Stockholm can feel very cold, so wrap up if you’re visiting any time from Autumn through to Spring!)
Number two was so, so very incorrect, Stockholm in comparison to London is a postage stamp. To get technical about it, Stockholm would fit inside London over 8 times.
So, when you read about the different boroughs of Stockholm, remember they’re all within walking distance so you can pop from one to the next quite easily on foot, or super speedily on the metro. With some decent planning and a few strong Swedish coffees you can be a Stockholm aficionado in a matter of days!
