Hello there.

Welcome to my little patch of the internet. I hope you find something you like!

Summer is an amazing time to be in Sweden, the sun is strong and the outdoor living really takes full swing!

The general rule is that all corporate businesses shut down for a proper break, this means that most offices and a good number of shops are closed for July. It’s therefore a great time to explore the islands and enjoy the summer towns of Sweden.

Like many Swedes, we hit the road for a couple of weeks. We’ve got quite a long list of places that we want to see across the country, so we made the most of our first full summer in Sverige. Here’s what we got up to on our first stop…

First, we decided on a little east coast trip not too far from home. Dalarö is a popular seaside location for summertime yet still felt super laid back and cosy.

The main thoroughfare boasts a series of adorable shops, cafes and restaurants. Our favourite spot was Dalarö Bageri which we frequented every day (even bringing a few baked goods home for fika after our trip!).

After one of our glorious bakery breakfasts, we wandered down to the beach at Schweizerbadet.

To get to the beach, we had to follow the trail through a forest. It was lovely to see the bright blue water appear through the lush green trees and reminded me of the walk down to Holkham!

The beach was busy with families relaxing in the sun and jumping into the water from a small wooden boardwalk that connected the beach to a little island. We walked out to the island and Hox enjoyed his first ever dip in the ocean!

I love being in the sea and it was a great spot for wading out into the water. It was very still and surprisingly not very salty, fitting neatly with the “badet” (“baths”) name! On the way back through the forest we stumbled upon a midsommar pole (we couldn’t decide whether it looked pretty or sort of creepy) and an outdoor gym which Stevie just couldn’t resist.

We rented a gorgeous little Airbnb located in the garden of a beautiful family home. We chatted with the owners who were super friendly and gave us lots of tips for the area. Their recommendation for dinner at Tullhuset was a great one!

Also, their three french bulldogs were a delight to arrive home to each day!

One morning I even woke up from a very vivid dream about rearing pigs… it turns out the youngest Frenchie - Cookie - was rustling around outside the door, in search of our boy Hoxton!

From the deck we had stunning views out to the ocean.

In the early evenings we loved relaxing in the hot tub whilst watching the sail boats and sipping Riesling or a nice cold beer.

Dreamy.
